Update from Administrator – November 13, 2020
November 13, 2020
Dear Families,
As always, I hope that this letter finds you safe and healthy. Recently, more than 50 nursing homes across the state reported staff and/or new resident cases of COVID-19 in their centers. We are reminding our staff to not only practice safeguards against COVID in our center, but to be vigilant outside of our center.
Due to the increased number of COVID cases in the communities across the state, we have prepared for the inevitable. As you are aware, our facility has accepted COVI D-19 positive residents into our center for their post-hospital recovery because we do have the capacity to care for these recovering individuals, including having ample PPE. As long as these admitted are positive for the virus they will remain in quarantine.
Here at Abbott we continue to follow the guidance and protocols that have been set by CTDPH. We continue to test our staff weekly. We also continue to encourage that all staff and residents receive their annual Influenza Vaccine. Our goal remains 100% participation of staff and residents. Although so much more is known about COVID-19 and its spread, it remains a very difficult challenge for our state and region to control.
We ask that our families do their part while in the community and PLEASE wear your mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. And please promote these very simple precautions with your extended family and friends.
Because of our cases all inside visits, except end of life, will continue to be on hold. Please know that our window and “virtual” visitations will continue. Please take advantage of these visits for as long as they are possible.
Remember that that we do offer tablets for our residents to use for video visits, phone calls, etc. to ensure that you and your loved ones remain in contact, as best as you can during these very uncertain times.
As always, thank you for your patience and please stay safe and healthy!
